Rite of Passage – First Still!
Oct 07, 11
After lots of hunting I have finally stumbled on some news about one of Kates newest projects, Rites of Passage. The production company have set up a Facebook page for the movie, and have uploaded a still featuring Kate and her co star.
Filmed in Santa Barbara, California, a college student regrets the lack of ceremony and ritual in modern society. In an attempt to borrow from the past, he embarks on a Rite of Passage no one will forget.
Anthropology student Nathan (Ryan Donowho) loves Dani (Kate Maberly), a troubled coed with a rich Chumash Indian heritage. One weekend he invites her, his best friend Hart (Travis Van Winkle), a few other classmates, and their professor (Stephen Dorff) to his family’s abandoned ranch – once a sacred Chumash burial ground – to recreate an ancient ceremony.
I have stumbled upon a small amount of information regarding Kate’s role in the independent upcoming film 1066 that I though you may be interested in.

Kate Maberly Set to Play Confessor’s Queen in Medieval Epic ‘1066‘ Kate Maberly, who came to the worlds attention with her portrayal of the orphan Mary Lennox in the 1993 movie version of ‘The Secret Garden’ has been cast in the role of Edith (Eadyth) the sister of Harold ll and eventual Queen of England beside Edward The Confessor in the forthcoming medieval epic ‘1066‘.”We are extremely happy to announce Kate’s attachment to “1066“. She is the embodiment of Edith (Eadyth) a willful young woman who became a pawn in the power struggle for the English throne. Her marriage to Edward the confessor was one of convenience, Edward was a pious man who felt little if anything for his Queen” says Robin Jacob Co Writer and Director “It is very reassuring to know that the role of Edith (Eadyth) is in such safe hands” Kate Maberly is currently filming ‘Rites of Passage’ with Christian Slater, Stephen Dorff and has two movies in pre production ‘The Story of Bonnie and Clyde’ with Hillary Duff and ‘The New Girl’ by writer and director Alan Shapiro.
With an excellent script, a solid cast, and a retinue of ‘A’ list crew members with dozens of box office block busters to their names already attached, this historically accurate portrayal of the events that lead to the Battle of Hastings between King Harold II and William the Conqueror Duke of Normandy, is the most ambitious independent production ever attempted in the UK.

Hi everyone! I’m Amanda, thanks to Siobhan for allowing me to hop on board as I’m a huge fan of Kate’s! Siobhan and I have quite a few updates coming up but for now, I’ve added seven production stills from The Secret Garden to the gallery. Enjoy!
Mandy has kindly shared with me the short film Blood on Benefits, directed by Andrew Lee Potts in which Kate has a short cameo appearance. It’s 12 minutes long and you may watch it in the video below. However, it features scenes of blood and violence and is not for the feint of heart!
